Who I Am
I am a young woman named Sophie Fowler. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, and I have been reading for maybe even longer. I have wanted since a young age to be a writer of as much skill as Bradbury, with the poetic verse of Angelou. But mostly, I want to discover what kind of writer I, Fowler, am in this world.
Why I Write
I express myself through many ways, but none are as personal, intimate, and truly me as writing is. There are many difficult moments in life where words simply cannot be said, but there are few where words cannot be written. Written words arranged in a meaningful way on paper can bring solace and clarity in moments of difficulty. While writing is no easy task, it is gratifying and helps my own development as a human being. To ask a writer why they write is to ask why a heart must beat. It is a function they must do in order to survive, and writing is what I must do to live. There are thousands of reasons I could give for why I write, but mainly, I write because the struggle gives my life meaning, I want to be heard, and because I want to understand the world.
